The Calico Story

As one of the first sustainable, made-from-scratch bakeries in Skagit Valley, Washington, Calico Cupboard Café & Bakery was created from a mindful business plan.  In the early 1980s, former founder Linda Freed connected her passion for creating healthy baked goods using whole ingredients with a health-conscious café resulting in three award-winning local favorite restaurants.

Today, we strive to honor Linda’s original big picture perspective by continuing to source local food systems for the freshest ingredients to produce whole food menu items served fresh daily and artisan baked goods that always over-deliver on presentation and taste. We are proud to serve fare that is made honestly with a high standard of food quality and lots of old-fashioned goodness.

COVID FAQs

Your Calico Cupboard Café experience may look a little different as we navigate this challenging time. We are committed to taking actions to protect the health and safety of our customers and employees in coordination with our local public health authorities and respect the statewide mask mandate for all individuals in indoor settings, regardless of vaccination status. Calico Cupboard Cafés continue to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and appreciates when our customers do the same.

Enhanced cleaning: We are committed to public health guidelines by cleaning and sanitizing high touch areas frequently. Your table and chairs will be sanitized after each customer experience.

Additional precautions: Every employee will undergo a complete health precheck prior to each shift including safety precautions such as taking temperatures, requiring masks, frequent hand washing and gloves when required.

Customer safety: We respectfully request customers follow social distancing and safety protocols recommended by public health officials, including wearing a mask while visiting our locations except when dining at one of our socially distanced tables.

 Calico Cupboards operating hours: We will be operating with adjusted hours to the current situation and may limit our hours as well as our days of operation. Please see our website and social media pages for up-to-date hours for each of our three locations.
